    Description

Vintage Dionne Warwick PROMO POSTER for 1973 Warner album “Just Being Myself” Holland Dozier Holland. 24” x 36” folded to 12” x 12”. Small tear at left lower corner. Design by Weller and Juett Inc.
Don Weller is an American illustrator and painter. He created covers for Time and TV Guide, and illustrated stories in Sports Illustrated, Boys' Life, Pro and Readers Digest. He designed posters for the NFL, Hollywood Bowl, and 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. He has taught at UCLA and The Art Center in Pasadena.
Don Weller's comment on this poster (from the Greg Newbold Art Blog):
“The art director at Warner Brothers would call and I’d drive over the hill to Burbank, meet and pick up any photos he might have. When I got back to my office in Hollywood, I’d call and explain whatever idea I’d come up with. He’d say, ‘Fine. Go ahead.’ I’d do the finish and take him the art by his deadline, usually a few days, but often the very next day. He’d approve it and the first time the musician would see his (or her) poster would be in the record stores (unlike the album covers that had to please everyone). So the first time Dionne saw her poster it was in the stores. I later heard she hated it.”
Given the above comment, it's possible the poster was never included with the general release of the album. I've never seen another copy of it for sale. Has anyone?
Provenance: from the collection of a Michigan record store manager who removed the poster from a promo copy of the album.
USPS Priority Mail. Will ship rolled in double tube, or folded to 12" x 12", at the discretion of the buyer. International shipping currently unavailable.
